Threading Eyebrows

his is the Chinese technique whereby eyelids are stretched for ease of hair removal. Holding one end of thread by teeth, a loop is formed with the right hand. Extend the thread holding it in the left hand. The hair is inserted into the loop and tightened by applying pressure with both hands, pulling the hair out along with the roots.

Thread the lower area of eyebrow first. Thread the centre part next and finally the upper area of eyebrows. Wipe face with a towel or cotton to brush off superfluous hair that would fall on the skin. Apply an astringent on the threaded section to reduce the redness.

Tips

There are no specific rules for shaping the fine hair of the eyebrows. It is more of a personal choice. Cleaning the area above eyebrows gives a neat look to the face. If left as it is the eyebrows will have a more natural look. Gently massage the eyebrow area with ice cubes before and after shaping to reduce discomfort. Threading can be done once in 2-3 weeks.

Benefits

Threading is the most preferred method to shape the eyebrows as it is neat and fast It is less expensive while compared to other methods. For people using Retin-A or Accutane, threading is recommended.

Makeup for Eyebrows

After shaping, brush the eyebrows in the direction you want them to shape. Use an eyebrow pencil to fill in the gaps or to give a definite shape.

Eyebrow pencil can be used to define the desired shape of the brow. Apply strokes with the pencil if there is scanty hair on the brows to give it more “full” look. Short or thin eyebrows can be made to look long or thick as desired by stroking in the direction of the hair growth with a pencil.

If the eyebrows are arched high, they can be made to look closer to the eyes by threading hair in the upper section and filling the lower area with pencil strokes. Similarly if the brow arch is too low and near to the eyelids, thread hair on the lower area and on the upper side with pencil strokes

Use an eyebrow brush to soften the pencil strokes so that they blend with the natural hair and fill in gaps if any.
