GKrellM is an open source computer program developed by Bill Wilson for Linux and other Unix-like operating system.

GKrellM mainly provides users a computer program that creates a single process stack of system monitors which is based on the GTK+ toolkit. This program can be used to monitor the status of CPU, main memory, hard disk, network interface, local and remote mailboxes and many others. Plug-ins are available for a multitude of task, for example, controlling the XMMS media player or a SETI@home client within the stacked monitor.

At first glance, the program seemed useless, but actually, it’s very useful monitoring tool. Users get a very good sense of what load is normal for the system and avoid sudden computer attacks by monitoring spam relay on a remote network without permission.
